WELL, YOU DEFINITELY CAME TO THE RIGHT PLACE!
I created this blog for people like YOU and ME who are interested in Africa but are fed up with the same-old negative, one-sided stories that are all too often found in education and media.
AS A INDEPENDENT HISTORIAN, EDUCATOR AND CONTENT CREATOR, I specialize in designing INNOVATIVE products and platforms that transform the African learning experience.
In this space, I do what I love to do and what I do best:
On February 1, 2023, the first day of Black History Month, I officially launched my YouTube channel as a way to disrupt the attack on African & African American Studies in America and to TAKE THE AFRICAN NARRATIVE BACK FROM THOSE WHO HAVE HIJACKED IT!
So, join me on YouTube as I let the world know that the story of Africa is for Africans to tell, and we are here to tell it! #WeknowAfrica #4Real #4Real and #YouCantBanBlack.
The Real Africanist is super excited about bringing the "Real" African story to the wonderful world of YOUTUBE. WATCH ME NOW!
Talking and teaching on topics that are bringing African and African Diasporans together around their common histories and real-time experiences! You don't want to miss the conversation.

I learned early on that African stories are distorted and controlled through the blatant and repetitive use of FALSE, NEGATIVE & BIAS INFORMATION. To right this wrong, I developed a system of education & communication techniques that transform how the African story is shared with the world. LEARN MORE>

The day that I found out Egypt was "actually" in Africa was the day that I knew there was something very wrong with the relationship between Africa, Education and Media, and something had to be done about it! And that's what I do...#IamMarieYaJouf #TheRealAfricanist and

I'm a staunch advocate of reading, and there are tons of books out there on Africa and the African Diaspora. But if you're looking for a "real" good read, written from a well-rounded Pan African perspective, here are some that I highly recommend!
It's important to read about Africa, but it's more important to #Read About Africa #4Real4Real.

"Africa is a dynamic place! Yet like most, it has challenges. It's the young people, however, that fuel my optimism about Africa's future. When I'm in Africa, I feel change in the air-I see it on the ground-and this makes me happy. It also makes me want to get it all on camera." #IamMarieYaJouf and #ILoveThatAfricaLife

SO honored to meet the one and only #Wode Maya! Maya's commitment to changing the African narrative has reshaped perceptions about Africa! But, for me, the most important thing that Maya has done is to increase the self-esteem of young Africans and highlight the positives and possibilities that Africa has to offer! #TheAncestorsAreProud!

"What you help a child to love can be more important than what you help him to learn."
True. But "what you help an African Diasporan child to learn & love are equally important because so many are taught to love everything other than themselves & where they come from." Marie Ya Jouf #ITeachAfrica4Real #EachOneTeachOne
