AS AN AFRICAN AMERICAN, I learned early on that distorted images and narratives shape how most Americans perceive Africa. However, I was somewhat surprised to learn that many Africans that live on the African continent and in other African diaspora communities have a negative perception of Africa as well.
THESE NEGATIVE DEPICTIONS HAVE IMPACTED African business and investment opportunities, diasporan relations, tourism and most importantly, the empowerment and self-esteem of African and African diasporan youth.
HOWEVER, THE WORLD IS CHANGING, AND MINDSETS ARE SHIFTING! And with the rapidly increasing interest in Africa, there is a growing need for products and services that educate audiences on Africa from a positive and progressive perspective-and this is where I come in.
BY LEVERAGING OVER 30 YEARS OF KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE, I developed (The A.S.P.E.C.T Model) - an effective system of education and communication techniques that provide a fundamental solution for academic and cultural institutions that are looking to:
I AM COMMITTED TO AFRICA'S CONTINUED SUCCESS, and I know that you are too! But, in order to make this happen, we as African thought leaders must heed the words of the young, Gambian-Pan Africanist, Ousman Touray, who urges us to "continue building momentum and implementing swift action around creating economic and academic models that benefit Africa."
IF WE DON'T - WHO WILL? IF NOT NOW - WHEN?
The African System of Progressive Education and Communication Techniques is a strategically aligned, 4-tier model tailored to meet the unique education and communication needs of an emerging and expanding African market.
It was specifically designed with Africa in mind, and it represents extensive thought and planning on how I can most effectively, serve Africa and contribute to the advancement of the African Union's 2063 Vision of "Making Africa a strong, united, resilient and influential global player and partner."
Within the framework of (The A.S.P.E.C.T Model), I effectively:
I AM confident that the African System of Progressive Education and Communication Techniques (The A.S.P.E.C.T Model) is a winning concept for those who are committed to ensuring that factual, balanced, and well-informed narratives are shaping the perception of Africa in the global arena.

I AM FULLY COMMITTED to challenging, changing and redefining how Africa is represented in educational, cultural and digital media spaces.
SO, PARTNER WITH ME AND LET'S CHANGE THE GAME TOGETHER!
"Marie Ya gets the story right and makes sure that everybody else gets it right too!
She's confident in her understanding and articulation of the facts, and she's totally optimistic about Africa's future! BELIEVE ME, she won't be swayed!
As a language instructor, I teamed up with Marie Ya for a beginner's class on Wolof. In no time flat, she had designed the course and had it ready for me to teach.
I recommend Marie Ya to anyone who is looking for an educator and storyteller that will get the African story right!

Ms. Rosa and I worked together at a non-profit organization wherein the staff wore many hats.
One year during Black History Month, Ms. Rosa was asked to be the keynote speaker at our Youth Graduation Ceremony. And, although, her regular position at the company was that of Youth Office Manager, she jumped at the opportunity.
Many of the graduates came from challenging environments. But with her speech on African history, Ms. Rosa raised some self-esteem in the room that day, including my own! She definitely has a message that young people need to hear!

My husband is a renowned Ghanaian artist, and we are the owners of an African art gallery in St. Louis.
Rosa "Marieya" has attended many of our showings, and we also worked together on a cultural art and fashion show.
The purpose of the show was to showcase African fashions, textiles, creative artists and black-owned businessess all while dropping some gems about African history.
It was a unique educational and cultural experience that aligned perfectly with the mission of our gallery and introduced a whole new audience to our gallery!
The show was a SUCCESS!
